The Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) program, an AAR business, headquartered in Rockledge, FL, provides global, world-class expeditionary and conventional aviation solutions to the US Department of State Air Wing.
Role Description:
The Lead Communications Technician will act as the on-site coordinator and supervision for voice and data installation projects. The Lead Comm Tech’s task will be to ensure job completion according to company and customer quality and safety requirements while maintaining the efficiency of the staff assigned to the project. Dispatch, track, and maintain communications gear and electronics such as UHF, VHF, and HF radios, digital voice recorders, communications switches, touch screen displays, airfield communications systems, for AAR WASS.
Key Responsibilities:
- Dispatch and/or install portable base station, mobile communication systems, and associated antennas.
- Maintain local repeater communication systems and troubleshoot transmission and receiving issues.
- Test, align, and adjust local equipment, replace and repair faulty components.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to assess communication needs and recommendation appropriate solutions.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain equipment disposition and maintenance records, spare parts, supply stock, tools, and technical manuals.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization policies, procedures and applicable laws.
- Provide technical guidance to subordinate personnel.
- Requisition materials and parts for communications equipment.
- Develop, revise, and update internal standard operating procedure documents.
- Read and interpret information contained in operational plans, technical orders, maintenance directives, OEM recommendations, and other technical data pertaining to ground based communication systems and components.
- Work at heights of 50 – 100 ft towers to repair, install, secure, and replace antennas and cables as required.
- Perform 24-hour on call duties on a rotating basis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
