Convair Café is situated in one of the working hangars of KF Aerospace by YLW Airport. We offer a unique aircraft inspired dine-in experience serving high quality food and drinks to our onsite employees as well as external customers.
JOB OVERVIEW
Gain hands on work experience under a Red Seal Chef to hone in your food preparation and presentation skills. Our café offers a full hot menu, including breakfast and lunch with the opportunity to expand your pastry skills by assisting with baking our daily pastry offerings.
There is also the opportunity to work with our front of house Culinary Arts graduate to gain further knowledge in all aspects of running a café, including customer service, making specialty drinks, marketing, purchasing inventory and more.
Ideally we are looking for someone who would be interested in assisting in both front and back of house, with an emphasis on food prep and line cooking relief.
JOB DUTIES
- Food preparation
- Line cooking & baking
- Taking customer’s orders and using the POS system
- Brewing coffee and making specialty drinks (no experience required)
- Assist with washing dishes
- Run food orders to dine-in guests and clearing tables
- General cleaning (e.g. washing dishes, restocking condiments, weekly cleaning tasks)
- Opening and closing duties
REQUIREMENTS
- Current Culinary student with interest in cooking and assisting with front of house duties
- Basic food preparation and food handling skills
- Must have a driver’s licence and reliable transportation
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain positive customer service
- Ability to work and communicate well with a team
HOURS OF WORK
Convair Café is open Monday to Friday 7:30am – 4:00pm and Saturdays from 8:00am-3:00pm. Shifts vary and can be between 6:30am (for opening shifts) and/or 5:30pm for closing shifts. Saturdays will also be a requirement of this role.
