- SAR Winch Paramedic
- Dual Role Technical Crew
We are seeking technical crew with experience, energy and motivation who will work positively to impact our business and be able to adapt to changes in the workplace and be committed to the successful transition of this contract and safe delivery of operations. These Technical Crew roles are based permanently in the Republic of Ireland.
Overall Purpose of Role:
Bristow Ireland is seeking SAR Winch Paramedics and Dual Role Technical Crew, who will be responsible to the aircraft Commander, assisting in the safe and efficient conduct of all Flights in support of lifesaving operations across the Republic of Ireland.
These roles require the applicant to carry out either:
- Duties of the SAR Winch Paramedic, or:
- Duties of both the SAR Winch Paramedic and the Hoist Operator, maintaining the required currencies and competencies of both disciplines at all times.
Both roles involve periodic travel from the applicant’s primary SAR Base to conduct operational duties across Ireland, and to assist with aircraft movements as required.
Principal Responsibilities:
In addition to the regulations and procedures laid down in the Bristow Ireland Operations and Clinical Governance Manuals, all Technical Crew shall:
- Proactively raise any safety-related issues, ensuring that such events are promptly and accurately reported;
- Maintain a professional approach to all operational stakeholders, acting as an ambassador for both Bristow Ireland and the Irish Coast Guard at all times;
- Act in a manner at all times, which does not bring either Bristow Ireland or the Irish Coast Guard into disrepute;
- Maintain a good level of physical fitness commensurate with the role, participating in fitness testing as mandated by Bristow Ireland or any relevant regulation;
- Comply with the duties and responsibilities prescribed in Bristow Ireland Base Instructions and any other regulation relevant to both the Hoist Operator and Winch Paramedic roles;
- Foster a safe, respectful, and professional working relationship with other crew members, staff and stakeholders, practicing good CRM at all times;
- Maintain all mandated Technical Crew qualifications and ensure that training requirements are met and correctly logged;
- Maintain accurate records of flying and duty periods to ensure that Flight Time Limitations are not exceeded;
- Maintain professional registration and CPD to the clinical specialty level mandated by Bristow Ireland, in accordance with Bristow Ireland Clinical Governance and PHECC requirements;
- Participate in clinical specialty upskilling activity mandated by Bristow Ireland, maintaining any advanced skills and CPD commensurate with this activity and in accordance with Bristow Ireland Clinical Governance and PHECC requirements;
- Prepare the helicopter and all mission system/sensor equipment and all medical/rescue equipment before each flight, informing the aircraft Commander of any issue that may affect the readiness or capability of the helicopter or equipment;
- Actively participate in pre-flight and post-flight briefing/debriefing and assist in logging of rescue hoist utilisation and aircraft fault reporting;
- Ensure that any passengers are correctly authorised and briefed, and that any cargo is authorised and stowed securely within CG limits, informing the aircraft Commander of any Dangerous Goods considerations;
Carry out Technical Crew duties, including:
- Assisting with preparation, movement, and maintenance of aircraft, ready for duty;
- Conducting Navigation, Observer, Hoist Operator and Winch Paramedic duties as required;
- Operation of all relevant aircraft systems to assist in the conduct of Tasks, including Rescue Hoists, Hover Trim systems, Communications systems, Mission Systems and Sensor equipment.
Qualifications:
SAR Winch Paramedic
Dual Role SAR Technical Crew
Current EASA Class 2 Medical;
Current PHECC registration to minimum level of Paramedic.
Experience:
3 months previous experience as a Paramedic
Able to evidence experience gained in an operational environment similar to the intended operation
3 years previous experience on a dedicated SAR unit as helicopter Technical Crew;
100 hours operating experience in helicopters gained in an operational environment similar to the intended operation
Skills:
High level of motivation and attention to detail;
Dynamic risk assessment skills;
Excellent interpersonal skills;
Clear and precise verbal and written communication skills
