Position Summary:
Assists workers engaged in fabrication of forged products by performing the following duties.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

- Knows the roles and relationships of each member of the press or hammer crew and where they are and their responsibilities during the operation of the press or hammer.
- Basic ability to read and understand shop traveler, operating procedures, daily production reports and other work instructions.
- Sweeps dies, operates all furnace controls (door, hearth, and car), cleans and lubricates dies, functions as scale blower and operates tools required to set dies and trimmers.
- After a predefined training period is completed, has gained a basic knowledge of materials and forging practices, safe operation of floor manipulators.
- Sets up and uses impression stamps.
- Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
Performs other routine duties.
Required Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one situations with supervisors or other employees.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Experience & Education
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to vibration. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to airborne particles.
