The IT Field Technician role is to ensure the streamline operation of the IT department and alignment with the business objectives of the organization. Specific focus will be on computer support, networks, databases, and system administration at all Survival Flight locations. Working as a member of the IT team, job responsibilities will include but are not limited to the installing, configuring, servicing, repair and maintaining of all information technology systems located at all Survival Flight locations. The IT Field Technician will also participate in technical research into new innovations and the possible development and or purchase/implementation of new system hardware/software to ensure continued improvements with the IT dept and services provided to the company. The IT Field Technician will work closely with the IT manager to define and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who can relate to individuals at all levels within the organization, very organized with attention to details, can work independently, and does not require direct supervision to complete job tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
- Coordinates IT support, training, and orientation for new technology users and current staff on network security and best practices for computer usage.
- Works with IT team members to advise the organizations needs in relation to equipment, networking, and connectivity needs and purchases products, parts, and services as necessary.
- Develops emergency plans for equipment, power, or security failure to preserve technology and data.
- Stay abreast of the latest developments in MIS technology and remain technically competent at all levels of data processing while striving for enhanced user productivity through implementation of new software technology.
- Attend trade exhibitions and workshops to keep abreast of new developments.
- Establish relationships with technology vendors.
- Maintains organizations effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies.
- Tracks inventory and status for hardware and software throughout the organization.
- Organizes troubleshooting/issues or repair when necessary for IT systems and software including phones systems.
- Establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with co-workers, and every level of management.
- Administer network and date security, including active directory, group policy, firewalls, antivirus, email security.
- Completes projects by coordinating resources and timetables with user departments and data center.
- As needed, travel to Survival Flight site locations for installation, maintenance, or repair of IT systems.
- Install and configure wireless networking equipment.
- Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
- Provides, as needed, user training, support, advice, and feedback.
- Oversee information security and maintains network and user security through hardware or software installation or through education.
- Conducts regular system audits, evaluates the functionality of systems, and schedules required upgrades.
- Ensure software licensing laws are followed.
- Create, analyze, report, convert, or transfer data, using specialized applications software.
- Managing secure network access for remote users.
- Must be able to travel as needed likely 25 of time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR HIRE:
- 2 to 4 years IT help desk and desktop support experience.
- Basic knowledge of Ubiquiti Network environments.
- Strong problem solving with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Personable, professional demeanor.
- Working knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR HIRE:
- BS in Computer Science, MIS, or related field.
- Strong problem solving with strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proven working experience as an IT Field Technician or relevant experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to operate a computer/keyboard at least 6-8 hours per day.
- Regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers; handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
