Purpose of Position
This position may predominantly work with the Courseware Technology team. Courseware Technology is an IT based team who is dedicated to ensuring that industry Leading Course Content is developed and delivered in alignment with company goals and objectives.
The primary focus of the Senior IT Project Manager; Courseware is to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and implement Courseware projects. The PM will also evaluate potential, future Courseware projects. Major areas of responsibilities include analyzing current initiatives, new projects, required improvement areas, and integrating with current systems and processes to optimize process flows, tools and techniques. Additional duties include sustainment and upkeep of data in systems associated with scope, schedule and budget such as Project Management Information Systems (PMIS) and Courseware Approval System (CAP).
The PM will may also be assigned to manage core IT projects initiated by the business outside of Courseware technology. The PM will manage projects with cross-functional teams to ensure they are planned thoroughly and executed with appropriate urgency, delivering results within agreed budgets and timelines, while adhering to company guidelines and compliance requirements. The PM interacts with many technical and business resources across the enterprise to ensure alignment on the project’s business value – and to ensure that value is delivered and adopted.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Ongoing application of basic project management principles of Project planning, execution, controlling, communicating and closing.
• Define the scope of the project in collaboratively
• Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion
• Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to execute and complete the project
• Identify high-impact, probability risks and plan for them
• Develop a schedule for project execution and completion
• Review the project schedule with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required
• Execute the project according to the project plan
• Ensure projects accurately reflect current status in the project management tracking tool for reporting purposes
• Communicate with sponsors and stakeholders as outlined in the project communication plan
• Ensure all change requests adhere to a formal process to include submission for review and/or final dispensation
• Conduct trend analyses to determine best practices and areas for improvement
• Recommend changes to policy, process, internal training, or supporting business systems to support continuous improvement
• Mentor the project team throughout the project life cycle in project management “best practices” to promote efficiency
• Report project statuses to Stakeholders and Sponsors and Project Management Operations (PMO) on a regular basis and/or as often as needed
• Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality based on approved project scope and SME review(s)
