Bell is seeking an Industrial Hygienist to support our Safety program at the Bell headquarters in Fort Worth, TX. The successful candidate will manage the development, implementation, and strengthen the industrial hygiene program at Bell Facilities.

What you’ll be doing as an Industrial Hygiene Health & Safety Rep

  • Assessment of risk and surveillance of materials and chemical use.
  • Maintain Industrial Hygiene data management system (database)
  • Act as subject matter expert in areas of indoor air quality, sampling media and methodologies, chemical management.
  • Review new, innovative processes for potential hazards.
  • Implement strategies for ongoing exposure monitoring to assure timely identification of deviations in exposure profiles and to ensure controls continue to be effective.
  • Interpret exposure monitoring results and develop appropriate recommendations to control exposures.
  • Recognize and investigate the potential for health effects associated with chemical agents.
  • Advise management on industrial hygiene issues, recommend actions to prevent or minimize health hazards, provide industrial hygiene input to risk management decision processes.
  • Review regulatory requirements prior to conducting air sampling and assess hazards; implement sampling strategies and apply recognized standards; help with or perform sampling using indirect and direct reading instruments to quantify hazards.
  • Manage Industrial Hygiene equipment calibration standards.
  • Complete hazard and chemical assessments for various departments.
  • Teach various health and safety classes.
  • Assist in conducting accident and incident investigations.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive industrial hygiene programs to identify, evaluate, and control workplace hazards in accordance with business and regulatory requirements as needed.
  • Document, maintain and continuously improve industrial hygiene programs.
  • Work with all levels of leadership, health services and collectively bargained employees to ensure understanding and compliance to requirements.
Job Requirements:

Skills You Bring To this Role

  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Ability to organize, structure, and assess historical data for trending, risk identification, risk mitigation, and concern investigations.
  • Proficient in PC-based applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Interpersonal communication skill in working with individuals at all levels within and outside the department, including conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Organizational and time management skills; ability to prioritize and coordinate work as needed.

What you need to be successful

  • Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Public Health, or similar technical discipline.
  • Certifications or pursuit of industry recognized certifications in the Safety, Health, or Environmental disciplines.
  • Six Sigma certification
  • Confined Space certification
  • Prior work experience in manufacturing.
  • Related experience supporting research and development, industrial operations and production, or field service operations (minimum of 6 years required).
  • Experience using typical Industrial Hygiene instrumentation, e.g., sound level meter, PID, 4-channel gas analyzer, personal sample pumps.
  • Possess knowledge of applicable regulations and consensus standards for occupational health and safety including OSHA, NFPA.
  • Knowledge and experience in identification, evaluation, and control of hazards associated with chemical handling and storage.
