Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm

Mission:

To survey, adjust, repair, install, modify, debug and maintain control systems, and electrical systems and equipment for production equipment and facilities; to provide technical assistance on equipment and facilities projects. To complete projects in accordance with city, state and national electrical codes, customer and PCC specifications.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Instrumentation:

Objective: to maintain, calibrate, design, install, and debug control systems for all machines and equipment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Regularly surveys plant equipment controls and instrumentation, calibrates, installs, debugs, repairs and/or adjusts as necessary to meet process control specifications.
  • Fabricates, re-certifies and installs thermocouples.
  • Working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), computers, industrial control programs, and interfacing between controllers and programming systems.

Electrical:

Objective: to maintain, install, repair and adjust electrical systems and equipment that provide power to production equipment and facilities.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Troubleshoots electrical malfunctions using electrical test instruments.
  • Installs and maintains control panels, motors, motor controllers, transformers, wiring, switches, alarm systems and other equipment.
  • Programs, installs, troubleshoots and maintains programmable controllers.
  • Assist with mechanical repairs as required, including, but not Limited to: Furnace preparation, troubleshooting of systems, general mechanical repairs, response to plant emergencies, off shift assistance to on-duty Millwrights.

Projects and Technical Assistance:

Objective: to plan and design instrumentation/electrical projects and provide assistance on technical issues.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Plans and designs complex installations.
  • Provides technical assistance for the selection of new equipment.
  • Assists others, including maintenance coordinators and engineers with planning and technical issues.

Safety:

Objective: to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.

NOTE: for job positions that require respiratory protection (more than a filtering face piece – dust mask):

In compliance with the Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Division Personal Protective Equipment standard for Respiratory Protection, OAR 437, Div. 2/I 1910.134 and Oregon Health Division Rules for the Control of Radiation, OAR 333. Div. 120 (333-120-300 through 330), certain tasks within this job position require/may require the use of a NIOSH-approved respirator. An individual will not be assigned to these tasks if the person is not able to work under these conditions. Respirator selection will be based on the work performed, exposure information, duration of use and any other relevant factors. If a tight-fitting respirator is required, facial hair, temple pieces on glasses or other items that interferes with the face-to-face piece seal of the respirator are not permitted.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
  • Safely operates all equipment and tools.
  • Identifies and reports safety problems, corrects when possible. May be required to work with hazardous waste.

OTHER (MARGINAL) ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Completes logs and records.
  • Provides work direction, training, and working supervision as assigned.
  • Performs other tasks as directed.
  • May be required to complete hazardous waste training.
  • May be required to work with hazardous waste.
  • May be required to participate in Hazardous Materials Spill Response team.

ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT, VEHICLES, TOOLS AND/OR MACHINERY USED:

  • Electrical Test Equipment (e.g. ampmeters, oscilloscopes, voltmeters, ohmmeters, etc.)
  • Instrumentation test equipment (e.g. calibrators, recorders, digital voltmeter, rpm & flow gauges, dead weight testers, & oxygen analyzers, etc.)
  • Pumps
  • Motors
  • Forklift
  • PCC vehicles
  • Pager and 2-way radios 8. Hand power tools
  • Solder gun
  • Basic hand tools (e.g. wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, etc.)

TRAINING:

  • Hazardous Materials Handling Training may be required.
  • PCC’s Forklift Driving Safety Certification must be completed. (SSBO & LSBO only)
  • On-going state electrical licensing courses must be completed.
  • May be required to complete Hazardous Waste Training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced electrical and instrumentation skills, as demonstrated by four years competent performance of all Electrical Technician duties. AND
  • Completion of a four year electrical apprenticeship program is preferred AND
  • Completion of a two year electronics training program OR
  • An equivalent combination of classroom training and work experience.
  • A valid Oregon State Manufacturing Journeyman Plant Electricians License (or higher level license).
  • Valid driver&39;s license in order to drive PCC vehicles.
  • Ability to apply city, state and national electrical codes.
  • Ability to distinguish between all colors.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow specifications on complex blueprints, drawings, Quality Control Manuals, Process Control Procedures and other technical manuals and specifications.
  • Ability to assist other departments through planning and technical assistance processes.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) with a working knowledge of Algebra preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team with limited supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to provide working supervision, work direction, and/or training as directed.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
