As an intern, you will make an impact on the company by contributing to hands-on projects and critical business needs. You will own a project from start to finish with a goal to make a real business impact on Sun Countrys operations. Upon successful completion of the summer internship program, you may be considered for employment opportunities within Sun Country.
Essential Functions
EXAMPLES OF LEGAL INTERN SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBLIITIES AND EXPERIENCE (may vary depending on applicant experience and department need)
- Serve as a project manager with respect to the implementation of new government rules/regulations affecting the airline industry.
- Manage escalated passenger complaints to mitigate potential SCA losses.
- Assist in reviewing and comparing Sun Countrys Contract of Carriage against other industry leaders to identify areas of improvement.
- Engage in other tasks as assigned, which may include contract negotiations, managing FAA registry requirements, and auditing historical files for completeness.
- Conduct ad hoc legal research using resources such as Practical Law.
- Observe the legal process relating to an aircraft lease and/or sale transaction from the initial drafting of the Letter of Intent (LOI) to closing.
- Participate in basic contract drafting, contract negotiation, and legal research.
- Develop an understanding of FAA registry requirements.
- Gain transactional law and aviation law experience.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled as a part-time or full-time student at a college
- Minimum sophomore status by the time the internship begins
- Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Qualified candidates must pass a criminal history background check
- Able to complete the full 10-week internship program (June-August 2025)
Preferred Skills
- On- or off-campus leadership experience
- Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Proven project coordination skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects and establish priorities
- High degree of organization, self-motivation and creative thinking
- Preference provided to undergraduate students with an interest in law who are highly motivated and detail oriented.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
