Key responsibilities and duties:

  • To carry out the required surface preparation and apply / spray coatings to achieve the surface finishes that meet the repair and material specification requirements
  • Conduct all work in accordance with company policies, health and safety procedures, quality procedures, manufactures and customer specification and industry regulations.
  • Complete all documents related to the work being performed
  • Prepare surfaces by ensuring part cleanliness by degreasing, and blasting.
  • Apply masking protection on all non-coated surfaces for the paint and plasma spray processes
  • Mix the coating materials, check the viscosity and spray the required coating 
  • Thickness, stove dry and inspect, all in accordance with the repair or material specifications.  
  • Ensure all equipment is safe and satisfactory to use, rectifying any unsafe conditions within the jobholder’s capability. 
  • Carry our all curing operations as required.
  • Adherence to our Quality Management Systems (QMS), Safety Management Systems (SMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and all associated Business Manuals

Competencies:

Core: 

Essential

  • Team Worker that has the ability to fully interact with other team members 
  • Ability to manage priorities in a busy working environment, and follow a given production schedule.
  • Excellent communication skills required both written and verbal. 
  • Able to read, write and carry out calculations accurately. Knowledge of Geometry and Trigonometry advantageous.

Desirable

  • Ability to provide advice as a subject matter expert.

Functional: 

Essential

  • Familiar with the application of 2 Pack Epoxy, Phenolic Resin Type Varnish, Anti-Galling/ Dry Film Lubricants, Sermetel type coatings;
  • Experience from an equivalent role in a similar industry;
  • Ability to read and use precision measuring equipment;
  • Ability to read technical engineering drawings, both modern and older standards;
  • Familiarity with metric and imperial measurement.

Desirable

  • Proficient in the use of Navixa ERP system.

Organisational Relationships:

  • Responsible individual who can build upon building a relationship with customer and suppliers. Requires full co-operation across and within other business departments

Professional Qualifications/Education and Training:

Essential 

These are vital to be able to perform the role and will be used as selection criteria during recruitment process:

  • Recognised indentured apprenticeship or military equivalent;
  • Human Factors.

Desirable

  • Suitable engineering qualification

Experience:

  • Previous experience within an aerospace MRO environment
