What You Will Do

The intent of this role is to have an hourly associate engage in and support Operations Excellence (OpEx) process improvement actions in the business unit.  This role is in direct support of NBAS strategic goals and continuous improvement projects while working with the OpEx disciplines (M.E., CORE, Transitions, MRL and I.E.). This role includes but is not limited to:

  • Perform time studies in support of Industrial Engineering Lead engineered standards.
  • Provide Training for OpX techs as they come into the role
  • Recommend and participate in continuous improvement activities including visual factory roll out, productivity improvements and all machine activities such as new capital, moved equipment or reprocessing.
  • Help create and modify manufacturing standard work.
  • Document improvement events ensuring standard work is adhered to for adequate planning, preparation and follow-through, as well as for tools and process used in these events.
  • Provide coaching to leadership to help facilitate and deploy Standard Production System processes and tools.
  • Capability to define MSW and deploy within a manufacturing and business process setting.
  • Identify material flow opportunities to eliminate waste and improve customer demand output.
  • Ability to facilitate CORE Events as it relates to area needs (I.E. Standard, Real Time Problem Solving, etc.)
  • Facilitate transition plans to ensure parts are insourced/outsourced on time to minimize customer impact.
  • Facilitate small groups and meetings.
  • Supports leadership and frontline staff with implementation of improvement activities and problem solving.
  • Ability to provide mentorship to incoming OPEX BU Technicians
  • Hours are 6:30m-3:00pm

Qualifications You Must have

  • High School or GED
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in production manufacturing, OR a completed degree/certificate from a post-secondary or vocational school in a related field with 3+ years production manufacturing experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Previous CORE Experience / Operational Excellence experience
  • 2 plus years trades training
  • Ability to work from complicated drawings, sketches, electronically transmitted programs, graphic design data and specification tables
  • Use of advanced shop mathematics including geometry and trigonometry. 
  • Use precision measuring, testing and checking instruments and related equipment. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent computer skills: CAPP2, UG, NXManager, TeamCenter, SAP, Excel, Minitab, Powerpoint, Outlook
  • Flexibility around shifts, for training and to maintain workflow, to include overtime

What is my role type?

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship
