In partnership with Orange County community colleges, Parker will tailor your course schedule to complement the practical experience you will gain on-the-job. Parker can tailor your schedule to ensure you are able to effectively balance coursework with academics. This synergy between academic learning and on-the-job training will equip you with a comprehensive understanding of operations in a manufacturing environment.

Position Summary

As an Operations Apprentice at Parker Aerospace, youll gain hands-on experience in our dynamic manufacturing environment, actively contributing to the assembly and testing of a variety of moderately complex products. Your role will involve tasks such as lock wiring, first-stage subassembly, and final detailing on mechanical components. Youll interpret blueprints, record test results, and ensure product conformance to specifications. Additionally, youll participate in lean initiatives to increase productivity, maintain safety standards, and ensure equipment calibration all while gaining first-hand experience to Parker Aerospaces collaborative and inclusive workplace culture. This role offers a unique blend of practical and theoretical experience, perfect for individuals with mechanical aptitude looking to kickstart their career in manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Performs basic assembly/test functions utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, mechanical/electronic tools, test equipment, assembly fixtures, and inspection measurement equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrates a commitment to workplace safety and professionalism by strictly adhering to all organizational policies, including safety regulations, maintaining exemplary attendance, avoiding personal phone use, fostering respect, and exhibiting a strong willingness to learn, cross-train, and proactively support business objectives based on organizational needs.
- Records test results on data forms using basic electrical equipment and flow meters.
- Interprets blueprints, engineering orders, assembly routes, test specifications, service bulletins, customer requirements, and quality directives.
- Execute and participate in Parker Hannifins business strategy including High Performance Teams, Zero Defects, Safety initiatives and more!
- Produces and inspects assemblies that conform to product specifications. Assembles/tests to customer and/or industry standards.
- Performs touch‐up or full surface painting of parts with finishing materials such as paint, lacquer, glaze, etc. Mixes paint and cleans parts.
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of bonding, torque, measurement tools and other assembly techniques such as using pull and squeeze rivets, polishing simple assemblies, basic bonding, torque, and use of measurement tools.
- Actively participates in lean initiatives by identifying and providing suggestions on areas for improvement.
- Observes all safety rules and maintains a foreign object damage (FOD) free work area.
- Ensures all equipment is calibrated in accordance with calibration schedule
- May perform other related responsibilities.

Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an accredited associate degree program in Orange County, California.
- Desires to work full-time in an operations role post-completion of the operations apprenticeship program.
- Ability to work a minimum 20 hour per week with the opportunity to work up to 40 hours.
- Is a U.S person and can comply with ITAR requirements.
- Possess strong mechanical aptitude and mechanical reasoning.
- Strong Interest in learning about assembly/test in a manufacturing environment.
- Can perform basic mathematical calculations and demonstrate effective verbal, written, and basic computer skills.
- Possess effective interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to effectively demonstrate team member competencies and participate in goal setting, performance feedback, and self‐development activities.
- Able to interpret reports and use standard business software applications. Able to use employee self‐service to access on‐line information and use specialized automated systems (i.e. PMR, MS Office, e‐mail).
