Work environment: GE Aviation Systems facility located in Islip, Long Island is dedicated to the design and manufacture of power conversion & control products, Battery systems, Lighting Controllers, Frequency Converters, Digital Control Products, Control Panels, Inverters, Power supplies and Advanced power conversion applications
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Role Summary:
Performs a series of steps in the manufacturing process of electro-mechanical system setup to run a specific program, in accordance with military specifications; ability to work on various basic jobs within home department.
Performs basic tasks such as machine and fixture set up electro-mechanical set up, utilizing cables, connectors, and test equipment
Follows written specifications or operation sheet in the completion of the assigned tasks
Performs other routine setups within fairly similar situations as required
Exercises care to ensure that each step in the process is completed correctly and that the part or finished product meets the quality specification
Performs duties using a variety of small tools and related production equipment
Provides written and/or oral communications concerning a variety of situations
Keeps workstation, tools and equipment in a neat and orderly manner
Understands and complies with all Company, safety rules and regulations
Engages and participates in a self-directed teaming environment
Requirements / Knowledge
Experience
Skill Level Required:
Skills required in handling basic hand tools and simple measuring devices
Basic computer skills
Must possess dexterity skills, good hand & eye coordination
Eligibility Requirement

Desired Qualifications:
Past experience in a manufacturing environment
Past experience in a self-directed teaming environment
Lean manufacturing knowledge
Understanding of IPC-A-610 standards
Eligibility Requirements:
Ability to frequently lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 25 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodations
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Ability to work with hazardous materials and in an environment with fumes and chemicals
High School diploma or GED
Subject to FAA/DOT random drug and alcohol screening as required

The base pay range for this position is $18 - $21/hr. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This posting is expected to close on April 11, 2024.
