Position Summary:
The PLC Programmer designs, develops, and manages all aspects of the automated production systems. This includes testing, maintaining and modifying existing systems; analyzing data and presenting findings along with strategies for improvement. Management of the automated production systems management includes installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software.
Essential Functions:
• Plan, implement and upgrade computer integrated manufacturing systems.
• Manages projects to specify, install, and debug logic, controllers, and associated input/output controllers. Complete projects within timelines specified.
• Confer with users to gain understanding of needed changes or modifications of existing programs. Resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls.
• Work closely with programmers and database administrators of the Information Technology department on a regular basis on integration with existing systems and data collection.
• Assist maintenance staff on a regular basis with troubleshooting controls, electrical, and other related issues to minimize downtime in all areas.
• Interface on a regular basis with Process Control, Product Engineering and Manufacturing personnel on all assigned control systems.
• Maintain and improve the manufacturing real-time data acquisition and control systems to increase reliability, accuracy, and speed.
• Document and map processes in multiple areas to gain an understanding of needs, inefficiencies, and sources of error to improve the processes using modifications to existing logic and HMI or development of new.
• Document programming changes, problems, and resolutions for future reference and change control management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical engineering, or a relevant field. MS degree is highly desirable.
• Minimum of five years of programming experience with PLC programming methodologies including Allen Bradley controls, R.S. View, VBA scripting.
