The Performance discipline has been around since the year 2000, acquiring a level of expertise for the Gas Turbine industry that has no match in México.
The Performance Engineering team, within the Integrated Performance and Operability department, is looking for an engineering student with passion for technology development to help the team accomplish 2024 commitments. On this job you will be learning essential knowledge about thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and its application when analyzing the health of an aero derivative engine (LM6000, LMS100) under different conditions and stages of its development.
The Performance Engineering Intern is responsible to address analysis regarding the thermodynamic response of an aircraft engine or aero derivative gas turbine, focused on design, testing, certification, production, field activities and support.Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities
Member of a multi-disciplinary team that values curiosity, proactivity, and collaboration, where members of the team need to be learning-oriented and customer-focused.
Performs parametric studies regarding the interaction of the different engine components.
Is capable of understanding the effect of different ambient conditions and efficiency/flow perturbations on the overall performance of the engine.
Looks to understand and explain physical effects that cause significant changes in the performance of an aircraft engine or a gas turbine.
Is capable of presenting investigations and results in forums with highly specialized professionals with clarity and technically sound arguments.
Makes use of statistical tools to provide answers.
Looks for creative solutions and ways to improve on the quality and response time of their work.
Makes use of Lean concepts for continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a Engineering BSc (up to 2 years prior graduation) in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Mechatronics, Energy or similar
Student of later semesters of Aeronautical/Mechanical/Energy Engineering BSc. or related field.
An affinity for subjects related to thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, programming, statistics, and project management.
Strong spoken and written communication skills,
Fluent in English language (written and spoken).
Ability to document and create technical reports and presentations.
Problem Solving Skills (Physical phenomena understanding).
Computer Skills (MS Office and, at least, experience in one programming language, preferable C++ or Python).
Skilled in Basic Statistics
Desired Characteristics
Graduation prospect for the summer of 2025.
Experience with NPSS on a fundamental level
Awareness of aircraft engine or gas turbine thermodynamic operation.
Familiarity with GE Aerospace’s products and services.
Awareness of Lean tools and concepts.
