MISSION:
To produce radiographs to customer and PCC specifications for evaluation of castings.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Setup
Objective: to accurately set up castings for radiography.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Checks routing or requests to determine x-ray needs on parts.
B. Reviews Technique Cards to determine setup requirements, including x-ray techniques, part positions and Film/IP requirements based on Techniques Cards.
C. Sets up additional radiographs of defect areas not covered by Technique Cards.
D. Inspect condition and maintain Film/IP and cassettes. Follow proper handling techniques.
E. Sets up castings on tables in x-ray machines including fixturing, placement of Film/IP’s, and DICOM tag identification and penetrameters on Film/IP; sets exposure parameters.
F. Determines priority of radiographs to be taken.
G. Develops best practice setup requirements for newly developed techniques when needed.
H. Visually inspects castings for dirt, penetrant, grinding debris etc.
2. X-Ray Operation
Objective: to effectively and accurately operate x-ray machines and produce radiographs within customer specifications.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Operates x-ray machine control panels and equipment to take multiple views of castings, adjusting radiographic variables such as tube height, voltage and exposure times within customer specifications.
B. Monitor, Maintain, and generate exposures for System Qualifications on X-ray equipment per customer and PCC specifications.
C. Regularly conducts more than one radiographic examination concurrently, and is expected to be able to operate all machines.
D. Removes Film/IP from casting for image processing, while maintaining proper Film/IP handling techniques .
E. After image processing, checks samples of radiographs on each casting for inner fearing Artifacts, clarity, coverage, pixel value and sensitivity; makes changes within customer and PCC specifications; records any changes made; reshoots exposure when needed.
F. Willingness to be audited without notice by all Auditors both PCC Internal and External auditing groups. e.g. PCC NDTE, NADCAP, ISO 9000,etc.
3. Trains, mentors, and assists less skilled Radiographers with setup and operational techniques as needed and assigned. (Marginal job function in NDTE departments)
4. Completes logs and records, and records any modifications to Technique Card specifications.
5. Meets all production and quality standards.
6. Safety
Objective: to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices; to comply with PCC radiation safety practices.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
B. Safely operates all equipment and tools.
C. Identifies and reports safety problems.

TRAINING
1. Training is provided on the job.
2. Radiography Level 1 Courses must be completed (radiation safety, digital method training, etc.)
3. Radiographer Level l Certification must be completed for all modalities (Film, CR, DDA).
4. Must re-certify - Level 1 every five years.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Radiography skills as demonstrated by the competent performance of all duties OR an equivalent combination of classroom training and work experience.
2. High school graduation of GED (necessary for NDT Certification)
3. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
4. Ability to read, follow and interpret Technique Cards, Quality Control Manuals and other technical specifications.
5. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
6. Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
