SUMMARY:
The Safety and Environmental Technician will be directly responsible to the Safety and Environmental Lead and the Safety and Environmental Manager. Posses knowledge of and enforce all applicable safety related VT Mobile Aerospace PPMs, as well as local, state and Federal regulatory codes and standards. Perform routine and directed safety audits of the facility and work force.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain the facility’s safety work environmental by auditing to and the enforcement of established PPMs, standards and codes.
- Respond to all accidents as directed.
- Audit the activities and facility to occupational safety and VT Mobile Aerospace, Policy and Procedure Manual standards.
- Act as a representative for the Safety and Environmental Department; conduct briefings and tours as needed.
- Any other duties assigned by Safety and Environmental Manager including but not limited to new employee Orientation and Training etc.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Good working knowledge or the ability to acquire skills in the following:
1. Basic safety procedures; must be certified to operate all general ground support equipment.
2. Hazardous Materials Worker Certification (HAZWOPPER), DOT / IATA Shipment of Hazardous Materials and general OSHA Safety courses.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Facility-wide.
SUPERVISION: Under immediate direction. Performs assignment after receiving detailed instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. Little room for deviation.
INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS: A moderate level of interpersonal skills is required to maintain an effective relationship with management and co-workers.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: Requires easy mobility around all sections of the facility. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and report to work regularly. Working environment requires climbing, stooping, lifting and handling barrels on a regular basis in various weather climates throughout the year. Requires the ability to wear a respirator without restrictions.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED required.
EXPERIENCE: 2 years minimum experience in occupational safety-related field and or a minimum of 3 years in an MRO operations environment.
