You will be a Technical Displays (TD) Scale Model Maker within Technical Displays at Lockheed Martin Aeronautics.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Technical Displays (TD) Scale Model Maker, you will be responsible for the physical creation of marketing, experimental, and conceptual models. You will work both independently and as a team player on highly complex projects.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Construct and finish marketing display models representing company products in a range of sizes, from full-sized to desktop, using materials such as plastics, polyester resin, ABS, and other materials
• Build and fabricate conceptual study models ranging from rough concept models built to learn a specific form/function, to high quality and complex models using plastics, woods, metals, and additional materials
• Manage exhibit model inventory, coordinate with exhibit team and customers to fulfil exhibit model requests, and perform logistical staging of exhibit models as necessary
• Paint application using HVLP guns, hobby airbrushes, and hand brushes
• Utilize 3D printing practices and associated post-process finishing
• Collaborate with customer and coworkers to develop a project’s build needs, brainstorm ideas, and review build progress
• Operate and maintain shop equipment such as 3-axis mill, lathe, table saw, router, bandsaw, belt sander, etc. in a safe and effective manner
• Utilize project scheduling and control tools to monitor project plans, labor hours, budgets, and expenditures in order to ensure customer needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner
• Ability to obtain a security clearance
• Availability for international travel

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree (STEM focus preferred) or 4+ years of relevant experience

• Demonstrated physical model-building experience
Desired Skills:
• Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of craftmanship (portfolio or hobby photos required prior to interview)

• Paint application using HVLP guns, hobby airbrushes, and hand brushes

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Hobbies related to model building such as Radio Control aircraft or plastic display models

• Superior hand finish abilities and experience working with a broad range of materials

• Experience with machine shop tools

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively on a team

• Demonstrated vendor-relationship experience

• CATIA V5 or CAD program experience

• Experience with 3D printing practices and post-process finishing

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
