Purpose and Scope:
Provide leadership and direction of a diverse team to perform security duties and policing functions detailed in the UCMJ and in Title 18 USC on AAAF to the extent permitted by the Agreement Between the Government of The United States of America and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Concerning the Extension of the Bahamas Long-Range Proving Ground by the Establishment of Additional Sites in Ascension Island (Bahamas Agreement). This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of shift security services personnel.
- Perform initial investigations of crimes, incidents, accidents, or offenses to the extent permitted by the Bahamas Agreement and other applicable U.S. law and regulation and immediately report all incidents and facility security violations according to the Security Incident Notification Matrix.
- Work with Det 2 CC and Ascension Island agencies and local police/fire officials for rendering assistance during on-base or off-base emergencies per Government approved response plans.
- Perform joint security patrols with the RAF and local police officials on the US base as needed with proper coordination through the Det 2 CC.
- Control traffic, enforce traffic regulations, investigate traffic accidents, and maintain traffic records as applicable by International Agreements.
- Conduct random security checks.
- Provide an escort service within designated facilities in which special entry and circulation control requirements are enforced and monitor and report any deficiencies IAW DAFI 31-101.
- Perform security processing (screening) of aircraft passengers and luggage and report violations of instructions or illegal activities
- Detain intruders and other criminals, if safety allows, until they can be released to the appropriate authority.
- Exercise authority granted by the Bahamas Agreement to detain and search civilians and deliver them to appropriate civilian authorities.
- Provide static perimeter security and roving security patrols for security project.
- Actively support and uphold stated vision, mission, and values.
- Perform the day-to-day protective security functions as specified in daily post and detail orders.
- Guard security site against damage, fire, theft, trespassing, illegal entry, exit, and unlawful attacks.
- Patrol premise to ensure site is properly secured.
- Verify and identify employees and other persons entering the site.
- Inspect and properly store equipment.
- Develop incident reports of attacks, damage, theft, or unusual occurrences.
- Investigate disturbances and in the event of an emergency maintain order and safety of the occupants of the site.
Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- At least five (5) years of related experience is required.
- Must have knowledge of DOD, DOE, or other industrial security program and in-depth knowledge of the DOD, DOE, or other government security regulatory manuals.
- Supervisory/Management experience is required. Must be thoroughly knowledgeable of security installation programs.
- Must possess administration skills to perform duties.
- Fluent in written and spoken English, and fit and able to perform assigned duties.
- Must have military or comparable civilian security or police experience.
- Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET level US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a SECRET Clearance.
- Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong ability to work and lead as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
- Must be a US citizen to fill the position.
- Possess a valid state issued driver’s license and passport.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
- Prior overseas government contracting experience preferred.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements dictated by project requirements.
- Ability to work in harsh working conditions, outdoors, and/or in extreme temperatures.
- Must be available to work outside the normal schedule if the need arises.
- Must be able to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds and carry heavy objects routinely.
- Ability to climb, crawl, crouch, bend, stand for long periods, reach above shoulder level, extend arms at awkward angles, lift, and carry objects.
- Must be able to be alert for shifts of at least eight (8) hours.
- Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
