What will I be doing?

The role of a Shot Peen / Plater is to prepare parts by Shot peening to ensure surface is ready for electroplating. Also asset plating department in the preparation, pre-treatment and plating of aircraft components to CMM repairs and specifications reference below.

Principal Accountabilities;
•tMasking parts for Peening
•tPreparing parts for the plating process
•tUsing Planning tools to prioritise work list
•tReporting issues to engineering team effectively
•tElectrical circuitry and Surface Finishing - Chromium, Nickel and Cadmium
•tPrepare and mask up components during the pre-plating process
•tSet up tooling, fixtures and assist in new tooling design
•tUse a wide and varied range of precision measuring equipment
•tRead component maintenance manuals, complex drawings and engineering layout information to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to complete repairs of parts within specified dimensions and tolerances
•tDiagnose vat, electrical or tooling malfunctions to determine need for adjustment or repairs
•tAdhere to COSHH and safe use of chemicals
•tOperation of de-embrittlement and stress relief
•tDelivery of components to next process
•tWorking on priorities from PAC 1
•tOperation of cranes
•tWorking from sops
•tUnderstanding and mapping of CMM
•tCleaning, Masking, Heating and Waxing Components
•tCalculating plating thickness and plating times
•tMeasuring components using internal/external micrometers/comparators/bore micrometers/verniers/elcrometers
•tMonitoring line to check vats are at correct temperature and rectifiers are at correct amperage
•t5s checks
•tPart spaning
•tPassivation & passivation 124
•tWeekly maintenance tasks
•tGrit blasting, strip chrome, Shot peening, strip cad & strip sermetel
Job Requirements:

•\tAn Engineering/Plating Apprenticeship or equivalent ideally gained in the aerospace or automotive sectors
•\tIMF Foundation / Technician Qualification or equivalent
•\tHigh attention to detail with strong quality awareness
•\tExcellent communication skills
•\tGood computer skills
•\tGood mathematical skills
•\tTeam working ethics
•\tSelf-managing and reliable
•\tGood problem solving skills
•\tFlexibility
•\tMust be willing to train and take on board new skills
•\tAn understanding of Lean Sigma disciplines and 5s principles
•\tInvolvement in continuous improvement activities to reduce shop processing times and manufacturing hours
•\tYou will be required to work shift rotations comprising of Days, Lates, Nights and when required Weekends
