Job Summary
Assist in implementing programs and activities that may have environmental or safety impacts.
Job Responsibilities
- Daily activities focused on implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Perform and document Risk, Hazard and PPE Assessments of specific areas/processes as designated by management
- Assist in gathering missing Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) and ensuring completion of the SDS database
- Ensure specific areas have the correct labels, signs, and other means of hazard communication
- Aid management with EHS audits and inspections
- Assist with inventory of chemicals, waste satellite accumulation areas, machine requiring guarding, fire extinguishers, safety eye wash/showers, etc, as designated by management
- Assist in the implementation of audit and/or inspection corrective actions
- Perform weekly inspection of hazardous waste accumulation areas
- Coordinate the hazardous waste pick up.
- Manage all related documentation (labels, manifests, LDRs)
- Assist in the resolution of unplanned inquiries from facilities, Operations, Engineering, etc.
- Assist in weekly data collection, supporting documentation collection, and report generation for various EHS programs (e.g. SDS for HazCom, chemical usage and waste generation for air emission estimate, etc)
- Responds to problems and issues in a tactful and expedient manner
- Support facilities inspections and reporting requirements
- Collect data to be used in generating reports and metrics
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a 4 years degree program or 2 years Masters program in Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related field
- Enrolled at time of application as a Junior or Senior with at least a minimum 3.0 GPA
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Be available to work onsite (40 hours per week) for at least two semesters starting Fall 2024/or Spring 2025
- Must have good interpersonal skills and have the ability to build a good network
- Must be diligent, hardworking, and quick study
Preferred Experience:
- OSHA 30 hour in General Industry
- 40-hrs HAZWOPER certification
