Sr. HVAC/R Technician (Full Time)

POSITION SUMMARY:
Installs, maintains, repairs, and overhauls HVAC/R systems and equipment in the facility: troubleshoots and diagnoses problems and equipment malfunctions of a variety of systems and equipment, including but not limited to chillers, chilled water hydronic loops, packaged systems, split systems, walk-in coolers, walk-in freezers, exhaust fans, server rack cooling systems, building automation system and related software.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Possess a strong sense of urgency.
- Receive work assignments and pertinent paperwork.
- Diagnose diverse service issues, obtain any replacement parts, and be able to fully explain what the issue is and what is needed to correct.
- Assists with plan layout and determine the sequence of complex HVAC/R system installation or modification.
- Inspect and measure buildings to determine airflow requirements.
- Plan and draw layout and dimensions of ductwork.
- Confer with department management team to schedule air conditioning installation and downtime.
- Examine installed HVAC/R systems to verify system is function.
- Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders.
- Establish or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of the product.
- Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of the shop, department, or work crew.
- Prepare complex prints to indicate new/modified systems.
- Make adjustments to balance out the system.
- Respond to trouble calls.
- Repair HVAC/R system as necessary or initiate orders for materials or equipment to effect repairs.
- Solder, braze, and/or welds as necessary.
- Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists and train lesser experienced employees in solving work problems.
- Perform scheduled maintenance.
- Maintain all necessary records, files, and reports.
- Conduct work in a clean, neat, and professional manner.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
- 5-7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience of trade school graduate.
- Must possess considerable knowledge of chilled water systems, centrifugal chillers, screw chillers, scroll chillers, and reciprocating chillers, including cooling towers
- Requires the use of acquired specialized knowledge along with the ability to interpret drawings and/or blueprints; use of judgment to plan and perform unusual work where only general methods are available and make broad decisions.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Must obtain and maintain HVAC Universal Certification from the Environmental Protection Agency within six (6) months of employment
- Individual must be certifiable for a forklift within the first 90 days of employment.
