Northrop Grumman is seeking a motivated professional to join our team as Senior Principal Military Trainer / MCTP Staff Planner, HICOM Facilitator. The location of this position is at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) trains Army Corps, Divisions, and Brigades in the Army Mission Command Systems and Operations Process. This is done thru an integrated simulation to replicate a robust Operating Environment (OE). Units conduct exercises in Large Scale Combat Operations with all appropriate operational variables that would be present in a theater of operations to develop efficiency in the operations process.
Plans Team Responsibilities:
The Plans Team serves as the integrating cell to develop a comprehensive and coherent scenario that challenges each training audience at echelon, across all War Fighting Functions. This is done by conducting Exercise Design thru the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP) to produce scenarios, BLUFOR Higher Headquarters (HICOM) Orders, OPFOR Higher Headquarters Orders, and any special instructions to the Exercise Control Group. The HICOM Facilitator Team serves as an imbedded team to the exercise HICOM to facilitate scenario understanding, battle rhythm events, and critical linkages between the exercise control group and the HICOM.
- Conduct mission analysis of higher headquarters guidance (CSA, FORSCOM, CAC)
- Integrate training audience training objective into a coherent scenario
- Review training audience plans and orders
- Coordinate and synchronizing warfighting functions in all plans and orders
- Develop plans, orders, branches, and sequels
- Write HICOM orders for each respective Warfighter Exercise (WFX) - During the ELC (Exercise Life Cycle), works with EXCON (Exercise Control) to plan, prepare, and serve as a conduit between Scenario Design / MCTP and the HICOM
- During execution, integrates with the HICOM, at the HICOM location, and interacts directly with respective primary staff officers to operationally steer the exercise
- Enable HICOM understanding, processes, and inputs to achieve desired training conditions
- Works directly with Current Operations (CUOPS), and respective Operations Groups to ensure that the HICOM is providing the appropriate inputs and stimulus to training audiences
Individual Responsibilities:
Planner/HICOM Facilitator responsible for enabling scenario development, planning, and orders development to stimulate specific exercise training needs and ensures scenario understanding, battle rhythm events, and critical linkages.
- Facilitate the respective WFX HICOM
- Operationally apply current Army and Joint Doctrine to develop Warfighting Functions (WfF) appropriate concepts for respective scenarios
- Write Orders and WfF Annexes at the Corps and Land Component level to direct operations based on the developed concept
- Integrate additional WfF personnel as required to facilitate planning and execution
- Set the conditions for scripted stimulus and injects by foreshadowing problem sets in the in orders
- Incorporate best practices into the planning process and products that provide training audiences an example to follow
- Anticipate, account for, and respond to WfF specific RFIs associated with the scenario and order
- Develop and present appropriate training to inform exercise support staff (MCTP, HICOM, Exercise Control Group) about the scenario and orders
- Coordinate with adjacent divisions, Operations Groups, and organizations as directed
- Attend weekly Exercise Planning Team (EPT) and Operational Planning Team (OPT) meetings for respective exercises to facilitate common understanding
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree with 15 years’ experience
- U.S. Army Command and General Staff College or service equivalent (MEL 4)
- U.S. Military service as a Field Grade Officer or SGM/CSM (COL, LTC, CSM/SGM)
- Familiar with current Army and Joint doctrine
- Must possess active DoD Secret Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters Degree with 15 years of experience
- U.S. Army War College or service equivalent
- Mastery of current Army and Joint doctrine
- Must possess active DoD Secret Clearance
- Should have experience as an OC/T (Observer, Coach, Trainer) and as a WFX participant
- Leadership experience in the Army CTC program, preferably MCTP
Salary Range: $86,300 - $129,500
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
