Position Purpose:
The Structural Mechanic I is responsible for performing a variety of structural assembly operations within a production department. Under moderate supervision, this role involves fitting and assembling detail parts and structures, conducting drilling and riveting operations, and ensuring that all work meets FAA requirements, customer specifications, and Company quality standards.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
Structural Assembly and Fitting:
Perform assembly and fitting of aircraft detail parts and structures, ensuring that each assembly is in accordance with FAA requirements and customer specifications.
Execute drilling, riveting, and other related operations with attention to accuracy and quality.
Riveting and Sheetmetal Work:
Rivet structural assemblies, including sheetmetal parts, using a variety of tools such as portable riveting guns, pneumatic drills, counter sinks, rivet shavers, reamers, and files.
Blueprint and Documentation Interpretation:
Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches, and operation sheets to determine the sequence of operations, rivet sizes, hole patterns, and other necessary assembly details.
Inspection and Quality Control:
Log and Record Maintenance:
Maintain and use logs and records, including MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs, and other required documentation.
Enter daily labor data into the resource planning system, ensuring correct Work Order and Item numbers are recorded.
Assembly Alignment:
Align and assemble parts to be riveted using jigs, holding fixtures, pins, clamps, and fasteners to ensure accurate and secure assembly.

Lean and Continuous Improvement:
Support Lean activities and initiatives within the department to drive efficiency, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
Participate in continuous improvement activities such as YIAW (Your Ideas Are Welcome), Kaizen events, and other process improvement efforts.

Knowledge and Experience:
Basic knowledge of aircraft structures, sheet metal, and fabrication processes.
Experience working with Solumina and Smarteam is preferred.
One year of experience credit may be considered for graduates of the Savannah Tech Aircraft Structures Technical Certificate Program.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs as required by job tasks.
Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work in confined or restricted spaces.
Ability to stand, bend, kneel, or crouch for extended periods.

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language for communication and safety compliance.
Personal Skills:
A professional attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work well with others in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to meet demanding schedules while maintaining high-quality standards.
Flexibility:
Must be able to work any shift, including nights, weekends, or overtime as needed to meet production demands.
Qualifications:
Pay Details: $21.21 per hour
