Riveting and Sheetmetal Work:
Rivet structural assemblies, including sheetmetal parts, using a variety of tools such as portable riveting guns, pneumatic drills, counter sinks, rivet shavers, reamers, and files.
Blueprint and Documentation Interpretation:
Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches, and operation sheets to determine the sequence of operations, rivet sizes, hole patterns, and other necessary assembly details.
Inspection and Quality Control:
Check all completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and is defect-free prior to final inspection.
Ensure that all parts and assemblies conform to the Company’s stringent standards of quality.
Log and Record Maintenance:
Maintain and use logs and records, including MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs, and other required documentation.
Enter daily labor data into the resource planning system, ensuring correct Work Order and Item numbers are recorded.
Assembly Alignment:
Align and assemble parts to be riveted using jigs, holding fixtures, pins, clamps, and fasteners to ensure accurate and secure assembly.
Work Area Maintenance:
Maintain a clean and orderly work area, support the companys 5S program, and comply with all safety regulations to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
Moderate Supervision:
Work under moderate supervision on a variety of tasks and projects, ensuring all work is completed according to established guidelines and timelines.
Lean and Continuous Improvement:
Support Lean activities and initiatives within the department to drive efficiency, reduce waste, and improve productivity.
Participate in continuous improvement activities such as YIAW (Your Ideas Are Welcome), Kaizen events, and other process improvement efforts. Additional Functions:
Shop Equipment and Tool Care:
Properly care for and maintain shop equipment and tools as assigned by the supervisor, ensuring tools are in good working condition.
Safety and Housekeeping:
Demonstrate good housekeeping and safety practices in all aspects of work. Ensure compliance with safety rules and procedures at all times.
Other Duties:
Perform other duties as assigned to support the team and department objectives.
Other Requirements:
Knowledge and Experience:
Basic knowledge of aircraft structures, sheet metal, and fabrication processes.
Experience working with Solumina and Smarteam is preferred.
One year of experience credit may be considered for graduates of the Savannah Tech Aircraft Structures Technical Certificate Program.
Blueprint and Schematic Reading:
Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and engineering documentation, including operation sheets and sketches.
Measurement and Shop Math:
Ability to use a 6-inch scale, perform basic shop math, and measure components accurately to ensure proper fit and assembly.
Computer Skills:
Basic computer skills are required for logging labor, tracking parts, and completing required documentation.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs as required by job tasks.
Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and work in confined or restricted spaces.
Ability to stand, bend, kneel, or crouch for extended periods.
Language Proficiency:
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language for communication and safety compliance.
Personal Skills:
A professional attitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work well with others in a team-oriented environment.
Ability to meet demanding schedules while maintaining high-quality standards.
Flexibility:
Must be able to work any shift, including nights, weekends, or overtime as needed to meet production demands.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience: 1 year of related structural assembly experience.
Graduates of the Savannah Tech Aircraft Structures Technical Certificate Program may be credited with one year of experience.
Experience with Solumina and Smarteam preferred.
Work Environment:
This position is based in a production environment where noise, mechanical tools, and heavy lifting are common. Adherence to safety procedures and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) are required at all times.
